Are Mormons Christians?
A well dressed Mormon comes to your door talking about God, life and salvation and you think at last a brother in Christ who actually lives what he preaches. But what do they really believe? With the U.S Election later on this year many are seeking to support Mitt Romney saying he will have higher moral standards than Obama. I'm not going to tell you what I think because it doesnt matter. What I'm going to do here is Simply reveal the beliefs of the Mornom Church in light of Scripture
- When you die you will go to a place called the Spirit World where all of God’s children await resurrection and judgment [1].
1Corinthians 5:6-8 tells us that when we Christians die, we go immediately to be with God. To be "absent from the body-present with the Lord."Philippians l:23 Paul tells us when we depart from this life, we are with Christ.
- Mormons do not believe in the doctrine of the trinity. This doctrine was made up by men, voted on and changed over centuries of debate.[2]
Jesus said "I and the father are one" John 10:30. The word translated "one" is not in the masculine, but in the neuter gender. It expresses union, but not the precise nature of the union. It may express any union, and the particular kind intended is to be inferred from the connection. In the previous verse he had said that he and his Father were united in the same object that is, in redeeming and preserving his people.[3] And again He said in John 14:8-9 Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
- Mormonism teaches that God the Father has a body of flesh and bones (D. & C. 130:22) and that Jesus is a creation. [4]
The Bible clearly teaches God is eternal . Psalms 90:2 says Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. and again in Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. In addition contrary to having a body God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
These are quite Serious differences in the most fundamental doctrines that Christians believe in. Serious enough to call it "another Gospel". Galations 1 makes it clear how God views anyone who contradicts His Word. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9. The word accursed comes from the Greek word anathema (ἀνάθεμα) that quite literally means damned to hell. God is clearly not joking here. Mormons are not in any sense of the Biblical deffinition of it Christians and are in Need of a Saviour just as much as any other person in this world
